On 15th February, Sarfaraz Khan made his debut for the Indian Test team after consistent performances in the domestic circuit. He scored his maiden fifty in just 48 balls and was looking like a century was in the books.

Sadly he was run out after a mix-up with Ravindra Jadeja. The all-rounder was on 99* and has sent the ball to mid-on. He called for the run, but pulled out at the very last moment, leaving Khan stranded in the middle. A direct hit by Mark Wood got him run out. Jadeja later took responsibility for the mix-up and apologized to the debutant as well.

The very next delivery he did his iconic sword celebration as he completed his century, but not putting the same energy as always. This made James Anderson go up to him and mimic his celebration. Though whether he reminded him what he did on the previous delivery or not is unclear but fans on social media are saying Anderson mocked the all-rounder because of his blunder.

James Anderson breaks unwanted record

Anil Kumble retired from Test cricket in 2008 with the record of conceding the most runs in the history of the sport, with 18355 runs. Sixteen years later, Test cricket’s third highest wicket-taking pacer has broken the record.

During the 78th over, Sarfaraz Khan hit James Anderson for a boundary, which tied him for most runs conceded in Test cricket. Just two balls later, the debutant took a single and Anderson conceded his 18356th Test run. After Anderson and Kumble, Muttiah Muralitharan stood 3rd, with 18180 runs conceded. Those three are the only players to concede more than 18K runs.

Anderson managed only one wicket against India, with the visitors bowling them out for 445. Ben Duckett gave an incredible start, reaching his century in just 88-balls. Within 28 overs, they had 163 runs on the board, with the Indian bowlers unsure how to tackle their attacking methods. Ravichandran Ashwin picked up his 500th wicket, after dismissing Zak Crawley for 15 runs.
