On Thursday, fans witnessed a “rare” scene when Jasprit Bumrah bowled to Rohit Sharma in India’s warm-up game against Leicestershire County Cricket Club at the Uptonsteel County Ground in Leicester. Fans have often wondered what it would be if Bumrah, who is one of the best bowlers in modern-era cricket across formats. Fans have seen Bumrah playing against great batters like Virat Kohli and other batters during IPL season.

Bumrah rarely faced Rohit Sharma outside the practice nets because they share the dressing room while playing for Mumbai Indians in IPL. But in the Tour Match between India and Leicestershire County Cricket Club, fans’ wish have been fulfilled.

The team match is get India geared up for the rescheduled fifth Test from the 2021 tour which had been postponed because of incessant Covid-19 crisis in the Indian camp. India is leading the series by 2-1.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Cheteshwar Pujara and Prasidh Krishna would be playing for LCCC squad in the four-day practice game from Thursday. Sam Evans is leading the LCCC and these players are currently playing under him. This practice session has been arranged by BCCI, ECB and the LCCC.

Rohit Sharma got hit by Jasprit Bumrah

This is also the first time Rohit Sharma led India in red-ball cricket outside India. Jasprit Bumrah didn’t take any wicket in the first session but has troubled the Indian openers Rohit and Shubman Gill.

But a length delivery from Bumrah which had swung a little seamed into Rohit sharply and hit him in the groin region. Rohit was in utmost discomfort and had to spend time on the ground after he was hit by the delivery.
