Jasprit Bumrah vs Shaheen Shah Afridi
Two bowlers’ name will come to our mind when we think of best modern-day pacers in the game of cricket. And they are India’s Jasprit Bumrah and Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi. When the ball is their hands, batters sweat out a lot. Both of them have the capability to make their respective sides win the match.
Let’s look at where they stand in terms of different forms of cricket. In the Test ranking, Jasprit Bumrah is at the third spot with 830 points. Shaheen occupies the fourth place with 827 points.
Bumrah is sixth in the 50-over format while Shaheen is in the seventh position. In T20, Bumrah is in the 28th position while Shaheen is at the 10th position. But according to former Pakistan cricketer Aaquib Javed, Bumrah has “fewer threatening performances” than Shaheen and that the latter is on the rise.
“When he charges to bowl, the batters know that the ball is being delivered with some intensity, Bumrah isn’t that aggressive. Shaheen’s graph is on the rise, while Bumrah is stable. Bumrah has fewer threatening performances than Shaheen, whether it’s in T20s, ODIs or in Tests. The rise of Pakistan cricket largely has depended on performances from Shaheen, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan. They all have given outstanding performances,” Aaqib Javed told paktv.tv.
