India’s star speedster Jasprit Bumrah will miss India’s match against Nepal in the 2023 Asia Cup. Bumrah returned to India due to personal reasons and will be back before India’s Super 4 matches.
Bumrah was not able to deliver in the match against Pakistan due to rain. Though India, with the help of Hardik Pandya’s 87 and Ishan Kishan’s 82 took India to 266, they did not get the chance to bowl to Pakistan.
Many fans and close watchers of the game were eagerly waiting to see Bumrah bowl, especially to Pakistani star players like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. But unfortunately, that did not happen.
Bumrah played his first major tournament after nearly a year. He recovered from a back stress fracture and his performance in his comeback match against Ireland T20I, where he also captained the team, has been impressive and so Indian fans are desperate to see him bowl.
Who would play in place of Jasprit Bumrah?
Undoubtedly, Mohammed Shami would be called back to the playing XI during India’s match against Nepal in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. Shami did not get the chance to feature in the XI in the clash against Pakistan as the management chose to play Shardul Thakur.
The reason can be easily guessed. India wanted to have a batting depth which is why Thakur, who previously displayed his batting strength, was preferred over Shami.
This match against Nepal is a very crucial one for India. After sharing points with Pakistan, India found themselves at a spot where they have to win the next match anyhow.
The match against Nepal will be played at the Pallekele Cricket Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka. After this match, if India wins, they will play in the Super 4.
