With the help of Jasprit Bumrah’s five-wicket haul, Mumbai Indians were able to restrict Kolkata Knight Riders with a decent score of 165/9 on Monday, May 9 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians had won the toss and opted to bowl first. The KKR openers Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane stayed at the crease with their 60-run partnership.

Venkatesh Iyer had scored 43 off 24 balls by smashing 3 fours and 4 sixes. But in the 6th over, Kumar Kartikeya sent him back to the dressing room. Iyer tried to launch it down the ground but ended up slicing it high towards the cover-point. Daniel Sams then grabbed a simple catch.

Nitish Rana played a knock of 43 off 26 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes. But Jasprit Bumrah bowled and short ball on the middle and Rana tried to fend at it awkwardly. There was a sound as the ball passed the glove. Ishan Kishan took it and put in a loud appeal but no appeal from Bumrah and umpire didn’t raise his finger. Ishan wanted it to get reviewed and so walked back Rana.

Jasprit Bumrah completed his five-wicket haul by sending back Nitish Rana, Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, Sunil Narine, and Sheldon Jackson.
Kolkata have won their previous match against Mumbai with Pat Cummins’ fastest half-century.
