Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it clear that he won’t tolerate any tantrums from young players who are not featuring in domestic cricket. This verdict came from Shah after drama around Ishan Kishan, who has not made himself available yet for national selection after taking a break.

Shah attended an event in Rajkot where Saurashtra Cricket Stadium (SCA) was renamed as Niranjan Shah Stadium. Shah revealed that the players have already been informed on the phone, and he is also going to write letters to them.

His stern warning was not just for Kishan alone, but for the contracted and the targeted players as well. He said if the chief selector, coach, or captain is asking the players to feature in red-ball cricket, then they need to play the Ranji Trophy for selection in the national team.

He [Ishan Kishan] is a youngster… there is no need to mention his name. It applies to everyone. Everyone under the contract and the ones being targeted too. All players will have no choice but to play domestic cricket.
Shah said at the event
(It applies to) whoever is fit and young — we are not going to tolerate any other tantrums.

Virat Kohli has the right to ask for personal leave, says Jay Shah

Jay Shah has backed Virat Kohli‘s decision to withdraw himself from the five-match Test series against England, saying it’s Kohli’s right to ask for personal reasons. Kohli cited personal reasons and opted out of the first two Tests but eventually withdrew his name from the rest of the three Tests as well.
