Jos Buttler, Rajasthan Royals’ dangerous opener scored another brilliant century; making it his 2nd in this season against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Brabourne Stadium on Monday, April 18.

KKK had won the toss and opted to bowl first. RR started their terrific innings with their best English batsman Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal. Although Padikkal was bowled out by Sunil Narine, it was difficult for the KKR bowler to dismiss Jos Buttler who scored a very quick 103 from just 61 deliveries, hitting 9 fours and 5 sixes and with an impressive strike rate of 168.85.

Buttler had also completed his third half-century of IPL 2022 in 29 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. When at one end Jos Buttler was striking, RR skipper Sanju Samson showed his form; with 3 fours and 2 sixes, he scored a hasty 38 runs with 19 balls but Andre Russel dismissed him in the 15th over.

In the 4th ball of the next over, RR lost Jos Buttler as well. KKR’s Pat Cummins delivered a short ball, on the middle and leg. Buttler looked to hook it away but the ball had gone to the fine leg off the top-edge. Varun Chakravarthy was there to take a sharp catch to end the brilliant inning.

When the openers were batting, Umesh Yadav had bowled a yorker on the off-stump and Jos Buttler hit it between point and cover-point. Venkatesh Iyer, after chasing the ball, dived to save a boundary. But he took some time to recover to get up and throw the ball and in meantime Jos Buttler and Padikkal showed off their excellent athleticism and completed four runs.

At the end, RR set a target of 217/5 to KKR. Sunil Narine took 2 wickets and Shivam Mavi, Pat Cummins, and Andre Russel took 1 wicket each. This match is a crucial one for both the team as Kolkata lost their last two matches and Rajasthan also lost their last match and the top position as well.
