England skipper Jos Buttler slammed the outfield at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala by calling it poor. He believes the outfield will be dangerous for his players while diving to catch or save runs. However, he said his team won’t use it as an excuse and will adapt to it.

The outfield in Dharamsala came under scrutiny after Afghanistan’s match against Bangladesh. Afghanistan head coach Jonathan Trott said the players tried not to dive after Mujeeb Ur Rahman nearly got injured.

Post the match, the International Cricket Council (rated the outfield as “average”. But despite the rating, England’s match against Bangladesh will be played at the stadium on Tuesday (October 10) as per the schedule.

Yeah, a few I think, it’s poor in my own opinion. I think any time you’re sort of talking about being careful diving or sort of being careful when you’re fielding, it sort of goes against everything you want to be as a team,” Buttler was quoted as saying in the pre-match press conference.

After losing the first match against New Zealand by nine wickets, Buttler and his men would not like to lose the second match, and they will use all their strength to secure the victory. “But yeah, certainly if you feel like you have to hold yourself back, it’s not a place you want to be as a team or player, or in a World Cup match,” the T20 World Cup captain further expressed his concern about the outfield.
