With the knocks from Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson, Rajasthan Royals post a target of 189 to Gujarat Titans on Tuesday, May 24 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Gujarat Titans won the toss and decided to bowl first. Rajasthan Royals openers Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal walked out to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal who had been in good form in the recent matches, failed in this match as he got dismissed from a ball of Yash Dayal.
Jos Buttler, who played slowly in the beginning, picked up his pace to score 89 runs. But a run out from Alzarri Joseph sent the English batsman back to the dressing room.
This happened in the last ball of the innings when Yash Dayal bowled a full delivery on off, Buttler hit it to long on and Buttler, who had already taken a one run, decided to go for the second run when Alzarri Joseph fired a throw at the batters’s end and Buttler dived to make his ground. But he was short as Saha whipped the ball off.
Even a ball at 17th over, saved Buttler’s innings when Hardik Pandya slipped and missed his catch. After that Buttler scored his half-century and played a flurry of boundary to score 89 off 56 balls with 12 boundaries and 2 sixes. Jos Buttler also became first player to score 700+ runs in IPL season since Kane Willianson in 2018.
