“Our Boss Buttler has arrived!”- Twitterati goes crazy as Jos Buttler’s absolute carnage steer his team to a commanding total against New Zealand

The Gabba witnessed Jos Buttler’s show when the English skipper’s 73-run knock, along with Alex Hales’ 52 runs, guided their team to a competitive 179/6 in 20 overs against New Zealand, on Monday [November 1]. England have to win this game to keep themselves alive in the T20 World Cup 2022.
England skipper Buttler elected to bat first after winning the toss. He and Alex gave a dream start to the innings with their 81-run opening partnership until Mitchell Santer’s spell in the 11th over gave a much-needed breakthrough. Santner’s slower and flighted ball made Hales heave it across the line, and keeper Devon Conway caught it.
England lost their second wicket when Ish Sodhi‘s short ball made Moeen Ali slog it over mid-wicket, but he failed to get the connection. The ball traveled up in the air on long-on, where Trent Boult grabbed a good catch.
When Liam Livingstone entered the crease, he started playing shots from the beginning, but a poor shot ended his knock. It happened in the 18th over when Lockie Ferguson delivered on a fuller length, which Livingstone missed; the ball then shattered the stumps. Harry Brook played three balls to score seven with a six before Tim Southee dismissed him in the 19th over.
Buttler, however, went on to smack 50 off 35 balls to complete his 18th to complete his 18 T20I half-centuries. But a run-out by Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson ousted the English skipper’s inning in the 19th over.
Southee bowled to Ben Stokes, which the latter pushed to the cover fielder. Buttler wanted to steal a single, but Stokes sent him back. The latter was short of the crease when Williamson’s quick throw to Southee made the latter dislodge the bails. Buttler departed after a 47-ball 73 runs, studded with seven boundaries and two spectacular maximums at a strike rate of 155.32. Buttler is also the leading run-scorer in T20Is.
Following Buttler’s carnage and Hales’ half-century, England posted a commanding total of 179/6 in 20 overs. Ferguson scalped two, while Southee, Santer, and Sodhi grabbed one wicket each.
Currently, New Zealand are at the top in the Group 1’s points table, with five points from three matches. England, meanwhile, are under high pressure to keep themselves in the race to the semi-final. They have three points from three games. They are placed in the fourth position on the points table.
