Pakistan have lost three matches on the trot in the ODI World Cup and former Pakistani cricketer Kamran Akmal wants Babar Azam and Co. to lose the rest of the matches. Two wins from five matches will make it a difficult path for the Men in Green to advance to the semi-final stage because as the group stage progresses, they will play some of the top teams of the World Cup.
Akmal did not mince his words while criticizing the team for their average performance in the quadrennial tournament. His comments came after Pakistan’s humiliating defeat to Afghanistan in Chennai.
Akmal believes if Pakistan lose their next matches, their cricket will improve as they will bury their ego. “It is not about losing the matches, but their egos will be buried,” Akmal said on ARY News.
Pakistan will next face South Africa in Chennai on Friday (October 27). South Africa have fired on all cylinders so it won’t be a cakewalk for Babar’s men.
Kamran Akmal slams Irfan Pathan for dancing with Rashid Khan after Pakistan’s defeat
After Afghanistan thrashed Pakistan, Rashid Khan danced with former India cricketer and current commentator Irfan Pathan and the video became a hit among Indian fans on social media. But Kamran Akmal did not like Pathan’s camaraderie with Rashid, questioning the appropriateness of such celebrations after the defeat of a team.
Akmal said it was sad and surprising to see greater joy erupting when Afghanistan defeated Pakistan. He also called out the broadcasters, saying that neutral commentators should not do such things.
Pakistan are currently occupying the fifth position on the points table and it has become tough for them to qualify for the semifinals after Australia’s 309-run victory over the Netherlands.
