Kolkata Knight Riders beat Mumbai Indians last night to keep their playoff hopes alive. However, the Knight Rider fans were more shocked than happy when captain Shreyas Iyer made some bold revelations. In the post-match interview, Iyer went on to say that the team’s CEO, Venky Mysore was also involved in team selections along with head coach, Brendon McCullum and himself.

In the post Match interview, Shreyas Iyer said, “It is really difficult (to tell players about axings). Coach and at times, CEO is also obviously involved in team selections. Each and every player takes it well, and they have put in their best efforts.” This was a definite shock for the fans and cricket lovers in general as it is usually the team management and coaches job to pick the playing XI for each game. This news was not welcomed by the fans who took to Twitter to show their reactions.

Kolkata Knight Riders cruised through a comfortable victory last night thanks to Pat Cummins’s bowling and Venkatesh Iyer’s strong start with the bat. Bumrah did his absolute best in the death overs restricting KKR to just 166 in their 20. Bumrah gave away one run in his last overs, picking up 3 crucial wickets. He also bowled a maiden to end with fugues 5/10 in 4 overs. That included 18 dot balls.

However, KKR’s bowling was no less as they got Mumbai all out for 113 to record a huge 52 run victory. Pat Cummins got 3 including Daniel Sams and Ishan Kishan while Tom Southee got the hitman, Rohit Sharma out.

Kolkata Knight Riders and Shreyas Iyer will hope to move past this fiasco and win their remaining two games of the campaign. Kolkata needs to win their last 2 and with a huge margin if they stand a chance to finish 4th or possibly 3rd. That is if other results also go their way.
