Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals had won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Knight Riders very soon lost their openers, Aaron Finch (3) and Venkatesh Iyer (6). But Shreyas Iyer played a knock of 42 runs off 37 by smashing 4 fours. But in the first ball of 13th over, a shorter and outside off of Kuldeep Yadav’s delivery sent Shreyas back to the pavilion.

Shreyas looked to cut but it clipped the under-edge and went behind. Behind the stumps was wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant who outstandingly grabbed it with one hand after stretching and took it really low. The decision for his dismissal was taken upstairs and the third umpire declared him out. After Shreyas’ dismissal, KKR were in a pathetic condition with 83/5.

But thanks to the brilliant knock from Nitish Rana that revived KKR’s innings and helped them reach at lest a decent target. Rana scored 57 runs off 34 and smacked 3 fours and 4 sixes. But in the penultimate over, he had to go back because of bowler Mustafizur Rahman.

Rahman delivered a slower ball that touched fuller and outside off. Rana swinged his bat but didn’t get the required elevation. Chetan Sakariya was at the deep point and he ran forward and dived to complete a brilliant low catch. Here also after the confirmation from the third umpire, Rana was declared out.

Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Tim Southee were all dismissed for ducks. Kuldeep Yadav completed his four-wicket haul in his just 3 overs. He conceded just 14 runs and bagged the wickets of Shreyas Iyer, Baba Indrajith, Andre Russell, and Sunil Narine.
