Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara feels if England win the fourth Test, they will end up winning the Ashes series 3-2. Australia and England are currently locking horns in the fourth Ashes series at Old Trafford in Manchester.

With 519/8 on the board (at the time of writing this article) and leading by 202 runs, England have placed themselves in a commanding position. Ben Stokes and Co. have bundled out the visitors for 317 runs and with the help of opener Zak Crawley‘s 189-run knock and multiple half-centuries from other batters, they could take their team past 500.

If England wins this Test then they are going to take the Ashes 3-2,” Sangakkara said on Sky Sports Cricket’s Ashes Podcast. Sangakkara added that he had not seen such a confused Aussie team for a long time.

Sangakkara feels Australia are confused over the field setting and how to bowl and also feels that if England started thinking they are dominating the game, they will try to accelerate and win the match. “If this goes England’s way, three days before the next Test, the memories and scars will stay.”

Former Australia cricketer Ian Healy left fuming after watching Australia’s terrible condition in the fourth Ashes Test. Healy blashed Aussie skipper Pat Cummins for dropping two catches and failing to see one. Healy was also left unhappy with Cummins’ bowling and his field placements.

Not just Healy, several ex-cricketers slammed Cummins for his decisions, especially his decision to play with a full-pace attack in the fourth Test. Star spinner Nathan Lyon was ruled out of the series due to injury and young spinner Todd Murphy was called in. However, the Aussie management chose to exclude him in the fourth Test.

These cricket pundits questioned why Australia did not put on many runs on the scoreboard when they left out a frontline spinner. There will be a huge uproar on the internet if Australia fails to win this series despite leading at first by 2-0.
