WATCH: KKR’s Umesh Yadav shares valuable tips to youngsters in the team’s training camp; reveals secret behind current run of good form
Umesh Yadav
KKR’S fast bowler Umesh Yadav was spotted guiding a few youngsters in a training session. The 34-year-old took 10 wickets in 7 matches during the current season of IPL so far. With KKR’s recent streak of matches at the Brabourne Stadium, his red hot run of form came to a standstill. The two-time former winners continued their rough patch at that particular stadium with their star pacer having ordinary figures of 1/48, 0/31, and 0/44 over the previous three games. In the subcontinent, Umesh has been one of the most dominant displayers of reverse swing bowling.
Yadav has led the Kolkata bowling attack with the new ball in the ongoing IPL, trying to make the most of the bouncy conditions of Maharashtra. Signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for his base price in the IPL Mega auction, Umesh Yadav has played all the 7 matches in this season. His initial period in the tournament was applaudable as he took wickets in the powerplay and kept giving brilliant starts to the team.

The young bowlers were paying full attention to the advice that Umesh Yadav was giving on ‘how to grip the ball’ during delivery. In a recent video, shared by KKR’s social media handle, the experienced bowler was seen saying:
“If you hold the ball like this it will offer you better control. It will ensure better alignment and balance when you release the ball. The position of the hand is straight right, so you can’t ball like this. The fingers are staring when you deliver. If you hold the ball higher, you will have little control over the delivery. I hold it slightly differently. Try to grip it at the tip of your finger. It offers an effective control over the delivery. Make an effort to hold it at the tip. Hold the ball like that and subsequently the ball will be released the way you want.”
