“Loving the banter,” fans draw Gautam Gambhir comparison as Virat Kohli shushes Lucknow crowd after taking two catches on the trot

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli was in no mood to take any sledging or criticism during his team’s match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Monday. After scoring a run-a-ball 31 at a relatively tough batting pitch, Kohli grabbed two stunning catches on the trot to derail LSG’s chase. While the former RCB skipper took a regulation catch at long-off to send back LSG stand-in captain Krunal Pandya, Kohli took a stunning catch at short cover to dismiss Ayush Badoni.

As the LSG batter played an uppish drive against Jos Hazelwood, Kohli timed his jump to perfection and plucked the ball out of thin air. He then backed it with an entertaining celebration. In fact, Kohli fiercely celebrated every wicket RCB took. He was pumped up as ever and was seen sushing the crowd after every dismissal.

With the former RCB skipper pumped up, fans quickly drew a comparison between Gautam Gambhir’s gesture after LSG’s thrilling win over RCB when the two teams met last time in IPL 2023. Cricket Twitter seemed to enjoy this little banter.

RCB all over Lucknow!

rcb all over lucknow

These two catches allowed RCB to make early inroads and the Faf du Plessis-led team never looked back from there. RCB were all over Lucknow as they continued to send back LSG batters one after the other. While Mohammed Siraj, Glenn Maxwell, and Josh Hazlewood accounted for the first three batters, Karn Sharma dismissed Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis. Meanwhile, Wanindu Hasaranga got the best of Deepak Hooda, getting the LSG batter stumped out.
