Major boost for domestic cricketers, BCCI increases prize pool for eight domestic tournaments
All eight domestic tournaments (across Men’s and Women’s cricket) will now have a bigger prize pool than earlier.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced that it is increasing the prize pool for domestic tournaments. All eight domestic tournaments (across Men’s and Women’s cricket) will now have a bigger prize pool than earlier. While the Ranji Trophy will now have a prize pool of INR 10 crores, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy winners will now get INR 80 lakhs.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah made the announcement through a tweet on Sunday. “I’m pleased to announce an increase in prize money for all @BCCI Domestic Tournaments. We will continue our efforts to invest in Domestic Cricket – which is the backbone of Indian Cricket. Ranji winners to get ₹5 crores (from 2 cr), Sr Women winners ₹50 lacs (from 6 lacs),” Shah tweeted.
From the 2023-24 season, the Ranji Trophy winners will get a prize money of a whopping INR 5 CR from 2 Cr. The runners-up will get INR 3 Cr instead of 1 Cr. The two other semifinalists will get 50 Lac each. Meanwhile, the BCCI has now introduced prize money for runners-up in the Irani Cup as well. While the winning team will be awarded a cash prize of INR 50 Lac, the runners-up will get INR 25 Lac.
Similarly, the prize money for the Duleep Trophy winners has been more than doubled from Rs 40 lakhs to INR 1 Cr. The Vijay Hazare Trophy winners will now get INR 1 Cr, up from INR 30 Lac last season. The DB Deodhar Trophy winners will now get INR 40 Lac, up from INR 25 Lac when it was held the last time. The Mushtaq Ali Trophy winners will get Rs 80 lakhs, instead of INR 25 lac in the last season.

Significant boost for women’s cricketers!
The BCCI is working tirelessly for the growth of women’s cricket in the country and the recent steps taken by the Indian board are proof. After hiking the match fee of senior women’s cricketers, the BCCI has also increased the prize money for domestic tournaments in women’s cricket.
The winners of the senior Women’s One-Day Trophy will get INR 50 Lac (increased from INR 6 Lac last season), and the senior Women’s T20 Trophy winners will get INR 40 Lac, instead of INR 5 Lac earlier.
