Pakistan’s tearaway paceman Naseem Shah is likely to miss the upcoming ODI World Cup in India. As per a report published by Espncricinfo, scans in Dubai showed that Naseem may miss the entire World Cup, the Australia Test series, and next year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Naseem suffered the injury on reserve day during the India-Pakistan match. During the 46th over, he left the field and later there were reports that he was ruled out of the continental tournament.
After Naseem injured his right shoulder, it was considered a minor injury and the youngster was expected to recover before the World Cup. However, the scan results showed otherwise and disappointed the team. In the 2023 Asia Cup, after Naseem got ruled out of the tournament, Zaman Khan was included in his place.

Naseem Shah has become an integral part of the Pakistan team across the format. He is a part of Pakistan’s lethal pace attack along with Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf.

Over the years, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has increased the workload of the 20-year-old. Only eight bowlers have bowled more overs than Naseem since July 2022 in international cricket. Not just the international matches, Naseem also plays the T20 leagues and he was also included in the SA20 auction. But now due to injury, he won’t take part in the competition.
Pakistan got eliminated from the 2023 Asia Cup after their two-wicket loss to Sri Lanka. They are set to start their ODI World Cup campaign on October 6 against the Netherlands, and they will play India on October 14 in Ahmedabad.
