“Maybe I’ll have to give his dad a call and find out”- Dale Steyn jokes on ‘technical change’ in David Miller’s game

David Miller

David Miller has been in sensational form in recent times. His knocks helped Gujarat Titans clinch trophy in maiden season in IPL 2022. He continued playing with this form and scored a half-century against India in 1st T20I at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Chasing a massive target of 212, the Proteas lost wicket quick wickets before a 131-run stand between David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen helped their team an advantage of 1-0. David Miller played a knock of 64 runs off 31 balls while van der Dussen scored 75 off 46.

Interestingly, a couple of month back, David Miller’s father Andrew Miller had tweeted that his son has made a technical change in his game which no cricket expert has been able to pick up. Read his another Twitter post below:

Former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn stated in a light-hearted tone that he might have to call David Miller’s father to find out that ‘technical change’ in his game. He told ESPNcricinfo:

“I think it’s confidence. He’s always had that six-hitting ability. I can’t see any difference technically,” Steyn joked. “Maybe I’ll have to give his dad a call and find out what technical difference he’s made.”

“Hardik Pandya gave him the freedom to express himself with the bat”- Dale Steyn on David Miller

Dale Steyn then pointed out that Miller is in his best form for a while now. He stated that during Miller’s stint with the Gujarat Titans, skipper Hardik Pandya had given him the freedom to express himself with the bat.

“Now, he seems to be hitting boundaries when he wants to. If he feels under pressure, he can hit the ball for six. Every time he hits a six, he genuinely hits the ball a long way.”

“Since then, he’s just been on this upward curve. Got the nod with the (Gujarat) Titans. Hardik Pandya gave him the freedom to express himself with the bat. It just seems like he’s gotten better and better. He put on the South African jersey today (Thursday) and just continued from where he left off at the IPL. He’s been phenomenal,” he added.
