Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) couldn’t defend their target of 182 when they faced Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday (May 6) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Phil Salt was the reason for DC’s easy victory as he played a sensational innings to deny the visitors the win and thrashed them in 17 overs while chasing that huge target.
Salt racked up a 45-ball 87, laced with eight boundaries and a whopping six maximums before he was sent to packing in the 16th over but it was too late. DC needed just three runs after his dismissal which was not a hard task and eventually the hosts thrashed RCB by seven wickets to clinch their fourth win of the season.
Apart from Salt, Rilee Rossouw, who remained unbeaten, contributed 35 runs from 22 balls with four and three sixes, while Mitchell Marsh could score 26 runs from 17 balls. Earlier, DC got off to a flier with Salt and David Warner’s (22 off 14) innings. Their solid start paved the way for reaching 187/3 in just 16.4 overs.

Earlier during RCB’s innings, with the help of Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, and Mahipal Lomror‘s knocks, RCB reached 181/4.
This win was DC’s fourth one from 10 matches and for the first time after many days, they could lift themselves up from the last position on the points table to get placed ninth on it. RCB, meanwhile, have won five of their 10 matches and are placed sixth on the points table.
DC will play Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Wednesday (May 10), while RCB will square off against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday (May 9).
