Memes go viral after DC suffer another demoralizing defeat this season

Now only a miracle can save Delhi Capitals (DC) in this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), for they faced their sixth defeat in the eight matches they played so far. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) restricted the Capitals to 188/6 to win the match by nine runs on Saturday ( April 29) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

SRH’s two batters wreaked havoc with their brilliant knocks to take them to a huge 197/6 in their 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma (67 off 36) and Heinrich Klaasen (53* off 27) were the only two batters whose bat talked.

During the run chase, though DC skipper David Warner couldn’t score another slow fifty, for he got out for a duck off two balls this time, Phil Salt and later Mitchell Marsh handled the reins. Salt scored 59 runs from 35 balls, while Marsh’s 39-ball 63 innings had six blazing sixes and a four.

But after their dismissals, DC fumbled and never recovered despite all-rounder Axar Patel’s quick contribution in the last few overs. Axar played a 14-ball 29 runs with two sixes and a four but he alone couldn’t finish the job for the hosts and they suffered another demoralising defeat.

Though DC have been succumbing more this season, it’s not good for the Orange Army either, for they won their third match today after playing eight matches and are currently occupying the eighth position on the points table. DC stand last on the table.

After this match, SRH will be facing Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday (May 4), while DC will be squaring off against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday (May 2).
