Mickey Arthur believes that though crowd support plays a huge role in deciding the winner, he is not going to use it as an excuse for Pakistan's defeat.

Pakistan experienced a demoralizing defeat to India when the two rivals squared off against each other on Saturday (October 14) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After Babar Azam and the company’s seven-wicket loss, their team director Mickey Arthur said that he felt the match was not an International Cricket Council (ICC) event, but was rather a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) event.

Pakistan were at 155-2 when skipper Babar Azam’s wicket reduced them to 191 all out. And though the Ahmedabad pitch was batting friendly assisting nothing much to the bowlers, five Indian bowlers scalped two wickets each. And during India’s run chase, a carnage from Rohit Sharma and fifty from Shreyas Iyer took them to the target without much effort.

Pakistani supporters would not accept the defeat due to various reasons. Some fans blamed the Indian pitches, while some opined that not having Pakistani fans in the stadium with stands filled with Indians had a great impact on the match. Pakistani team director Arthur also observed a similar thing.

Look, I’d be lying if I said it didn’t. It didn’t seem like an ICC event to be brutally honest. It seemed like a bilateral series; it seemed like a BCCI event. I didn’t hear ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’ coming through the microphones too often tonight,” Arthur said during the post-match press conference.

Mickey Arthur won’t use the lack of support from the crowd as an excuse for the defeat

Mickey Arthur believes that though crowd support plays a huge role in deciding the winner, he is not going to use it as an excuse for Pakistan’s defeat. However, his taking a dig at the BCCI means he would be probed more by journalists.

The journalist asked him whether such things should be allowed in the World Cup. Arthur said he doesn’t want to comment on it because “I don’t want to get fined.”
