“I think it’s a perfect opportunity,” Mitchell Starc confirms he will RETURN to IPL after 9 years

Australian left arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc has confirmed his plans to play in the 2024 Indian Premier League. Starc had last played in the IPL in 2015 for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He stated that he had not entered the IPL auctions so he could stay at home as the Australian schedule was demanding.
In the Willow Talk Cricket Podcast, Mitchell Starc spoke about the IPL. When he asked about the T20 tournament, Starc said, “So a good opportunity to see if anyone’s interested in the IPL, then lead into the T20 World Cup. And it’s somewhat of a quiet winter next year…in comparison to this winter, so I think it’s a perfect opportunity to put my name in.”
Since 2015, Starc has regularly featured for the Australian team in all formats. He is regarded as one of the best new ball bowlers in the world. He is also the 7th highest test wicket taker for Australia.
Mitchell Starc returns to the IPL after 9 years
Mitchell Starc has played in the 2014 and 2015 IPL. He played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore for those 2 seasons, playing 27 matches. He picked up 34 wickets in 2 seasons, averaging 20.38. In 2014, RCB had finished 7th on the table. In 2015, RCB reached the playoffs, but RCB were knocked out after losing to Chennai Super Kings in the Qualifier 2.
Starc’s most iconic moment in the IPL is his ugly spat with Kieron Pollard in 2014. After Pollard pulled out while Starc was close to finishing his bowling, Starc got agitated and threw the ball towards Pollard. Pollard in return tried to throw his bat, but fortunately the bat slipped from his hand. Pollard was fined 75% of his match fee and Starc was fined 50% of his match fee.
