MS Dhoni comparison drawn after Rishabh Pant’s horrendous act in last over against Rajasthan Royals
MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant was on the verge of calling back Delhi Capitals’ batsman from the field after the on-fieled umpires declined to give Obed McCoy’s high full toss delivery a no-ball against Rajasthan Royals on Friday, April 22 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
In the penultimate over, McCoy delivered a waist length high full toss to Rovman Powell. Powell this smacked it off for a six and asked the umpire for a no-ball. The umpires didn’t give it and so the DC dugout, players and even the support staffs were looking animated and they wanted the umpires to take the decision to the third umpire.
But the on-field umpires, Nitin Menon and Nikhil Patwardhan declared it was legal delivery and this left the DC dugout fuming over the decision. Rishabh Pant, who a livid look on his face started gesturing the batsmen to come back. This would have meant that the match was fortified. Rishabh Pant even sent Assistant coach Pravin Amre to check with the umpires. Although Jos Buttler scored his 3rd ton in this match, this match will be remembered for Rishabh Pant’s frustrations.
Now Twitterati started comparing the incident with MS Dhoni’s infamous controversy against the same team, that is Rajasthan Royals. Look at how they have reacted to this:

“Obviously it wasn’t right”- Rishabh Pant on his no-ball drama
Look at what Rishabh Pant has to say regarding the behaviors he displayed.
“I think they were bowling well throughout the game but in the end, Powell gave us a chance, I thought that no-ball could have been precious for us but it is not in my control. Yes, disappointed but can’t do much about it. Everyone was frustrated (in the dugout) that it was not even close, everyone in the ground saw that, I think the third umpire should have interfered and said it was a no-ball,” said Rishabh Pant.
Obviously, it wasn’t right (sending Amre onto the field) but what happened with us is also not right, it happened in the heat of the moment. It was the fault from both sides and it is disappointing as we have seen some good umpiring in the tournament. It is disappointing to go so close especially when the other team has scored 200+. I think we could have bowled much better. I can tell the guys to keep their chin up and prepare for the next one,” he added.
