MS Dhoni is one of India’s greatest captains. He won all ICC trophies available during his tenure as Indian captain and won 5 IPL trophies as well. Many players look up to him for his leadership skills and dream to play under him.

The former Indian captain recently attended an event in Mumbai, where he spoke on how to be a great leader. Dhoni spoke about how one can’t earn respect by words, but by actions. He said just by getting the rank one will not get respect and loyalty from the peers.

It is actually about what you are doing and not about what you are speaking. You may not actually speak anything but your conduct can earn that respect. I always felt that earning respect (as a leader) is important as it does not come with the chair or rank. It comes with your conduct.
Dhoni said during the event

Dhoni also spoke about how a leader should know the strengths and weaknesses of his teammates. By knowing them, one can keep working on their weaknesses without telling them and keep their confidence high.
