Ishant Sharma, the Indian fast bowler, recently shed light on the key role former captain MS Dhoni played in the development of India’s fast bowling talent. According to Sharma, Dhoni’s leadership laid the foundation for the formidable group of fast bowlers that Virat Kohli enjoys.
From 2007 to 2016, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah made their debuts under Dhoni. Ishant Sharma reflected, “When we played under Mahi bhai, we were in a transition period. At that time, only I was present; Shami and Umesh had just arrived. The other individuals would take turns. Bhuvi was also a rookie. Mahi bhai doesn’t have them as communicators. But he trained the bowlers and gave them to Virat. Shami and Umesh developed into different bowlers over time and then Jasprit joined the team. So he got the total package.”
Sharma also praised Virat Kohli‘s leadership and his ability to recognize the distinct qualities of each bowler and assign them clearly defined responsibilities. Bowlers thrived, especially in Test cricket, because of Kohli’s aggression and insistence on clearly defined duties. Ishant revealed about Kohli, “He said to Shami, I know you can take wickets, but I need you to bowl consistently from now on. You can bowl three consecutive maiden overs.” He approached Bumrah and stated, “This is your debut.” In Test cricket, consistency is of the utmost importance. After 2021, I realized that he wants us all to think creatively.
MS Dhoni’s leadership has fostered the development of India’s fast bowlers, while Virat Kohli’s shrewd leadership has enabled them to tap into their maximum potential, resulting in a formidable bowling line-up for Team India.

MS Dhoni spotted in flight travelling to USA for vacation
MS Dhoni is making the most of his time off after retirement. Between seasons playing in the Indian Premier League, he was involved in the ventures of his production company and also enjoyed spending time with his motorcycles and pets.
Now, he was spotted on his way to the United States of America for a vacation with a group of his friends. It’s uncertain whether Captain Cool will return for the next IPL season.
