Mustafizur Rahman has been a regular in the Indian Premier League since 2016. Making his IPL debut with Sunrisers Hyderabad, the pacer has played for Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals.

In the 2024 IPL Auction, Mustafizur Rahman was picked up by Chennai Super Kings at his base price of ₹2 crore. In his CSK debut, The Fizz was responsible for Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s batting collapse, as he picked up four wickets. As former CSK captain, MS Dhoni, and the pacer interacted, it made everyone remember the clash the two had in 2015.

In 2015, India traveled to Bangladesh to play ODIs and a Test. The left-arm pacer made his debut for his nation in the ODI series, where he shined as he picked up 13 wickets in the series.

During his debut match, he unknowingly blocked Dhoni. The veteran decided to shove the pacer to the ground as he completed the run. But Rahman had the last laugh as his fifer ensured Bangladesh the win.

CSK bowling coach can’t stop praising Mustafizur Rahman

Mustafizur Rahman shined on his CSK debut. The left-arm-pacer picked up four wickets in his first 10 deliveries, getting the wickets of Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar, Virat Kohli and Cameron Green. In the post-match press conference, CSK bowling coach Eric Simons couldn’t stop praising their new star.

It was always about the conditions and the balance of the side that we would like a left-armer, something we have worked with for a while, somebody that brings something different. We just felt that he does suit the conditions, but again, it’s the simplicity of the plan that we put in place. It has always been the hallmark of the way we go about our stuff, and he executed beautifully.

Rahman so far has played 49 matches in the IPL. In those 49 matches, he has picked up 51 wickets with an average of 28.88. Known for his slower balls, the Fizz has one of the best off-cutters in the game.
