Praveen Kumar, a former Indian cricketer who used to stump the world’s best batters with his swing bowling, opened up about his tarnished image owing to drinking during his playing days. He appeared on The Lallantop’s Guest in the Newsroom program where the host asked questions about his professional and personal life.
Praveen said the seniors would often advise him not to drink, despite the fact that they also drank alcohol. The 37-year-old claimed that a certain senior in the team tarnished his image by saying he drinks a lot.
When I was in the Indian team, seniors said, 'Don't drink, don't do this, don't do that'. Sab peete hain (Everyone drinks) but they tarnished me by saying I drink.Praveen said on The Lallantop
When he was asked whether seniors like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Sourav Ganguly advised him to not drink alcohol, Praveen replied he would not reveal anyone’s name. Here’s what he said:

Praveen Kumar was dealing with mental health issues in the past
There have been several reports of Praveen Kumar dealing with mental health issues in the past. In an interview with The Indian Express, Praveen even revealed he was fighting against depression, and at one point, he wanted to shoot himself, but thankfully, he later underwent therapy.
During that interview, he said that in November 2019, he left home with a revolver in the middle of the night to end his life. While he was driving his car to Haridwar, the photos of children made him turn back and this prompted him to reach out for help.
Praveen played six Tests and 68 ODIs, scalping 27 and 77 wickets in each format respectively. In 10 T20Is, he scalped eight wickets. He has represented multiple franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Uttar Pradesh-born former cricketer announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in 2018.
