As India continue their incredible run in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup where they haven’t lost a single game. Many fans are expecting India to win the tournament and at the same time believe an Indian player would win the Player of the Tournament award. The current favorite would be Virat Kohli, who is India’s highest run getter so far.
Unfortunately this isn’t the case for the Mumbai Indian’s Twitter page. The admin posted a tweet in which they asked fans who would be declared the POTT and included a graphic of 6 Indian players. They included Mohammed Shami, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Siraj, but no Kohli.
Kohli currently is India’s highest run scorer in the tournament, scoring 543 runs in 8 innings. In these 8 innings, he scored 2 centuries and 4 half-centuries. With a game in hand he can overtake Quinton de Kock, who has scored 591 runs in 9 innings.
Netizens call out the Mumbai Indians admin for not including Virat Kohli
Many netizens criticized the MI admin for not including Virat Kohli, who has scored the most runs for India. They called the admin insecure for not adding Kohli, who has been regarded as Rohit Sharma’s rival by fans. MI and Rohit Sharma fans liked the fact that Kohli wasn’t included, praising the admin.
Fans also asked why players like Surya, Gill and Siraj were included when they didn’t have much of an impact. They also asked why players like KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav were not included.
