Sachin Tendulkar’s India Legends defeated Shane Watson’s Australia legends to reach the final of Road Safety World Series 2022 in Raipur on Thursday, September 29.
India legends’ Naman Ojha played a match-winning knock of 90 runs off just 62 balls while Irfan Pathan’s scintillating cameo saw 37 runs scored off just 12 balls.
Australia Legends batted first, however, their game was ceased in the 17th over on Wedesday due to rain. It was resumed on Thursday at 3:30 PM IST.
Then Australia Legends posted a challenging total of 171/5 in their allotted 20 overs. For the sixth-wicket stand, Cameron White and Brad Haddin stitched a 44-run partnership. White played a cameo of 30 runs off just 18 balls as Rajesh Pawar proved costly in the final over when he gave away 14 runs.
India Legends responded with a flying start with openers Ojha and Tendulkar but the latter was soon dimissed by Natahn Reardon. Australia Legends then dismissed three batters, taking the momentum away from India Legends.
However, Ojha and Yuvraj Singh stitched a half-century partnership with the latter playing supporting role. Yuvraj was dismissed by Shane Watson and he dismissed Stuart Binny too. Watson then dismissed Yusuf Pathan too.
Ojha, yet, wasn’t entirely out of partners because when Irfan walked out to bat, his scintillating knock snatched the momentum from the Australians. He finished India Legends’ chase in style, helping his side reach the summit clash.
