Narayan Jagadeesan becomes the first player to score five consecutive hundreds in List A cricket
Narayan Jagadeesan
Indian batter Narayan Jagadeesan has been smashing records for Tamil Nadu in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. On Monday (November 21), he reached a whole new level as he scored his fifth consecutive hundred in the tournament. Alongside a blasting knock, he also broke a string of records.
To start with, he is now the only cricketer to have scored a century in five consecutive matches. Previously, former Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara was on the top with four consecutive centuries to his name, which he had achieved in the 2014-15 season.
Jagadeesan’s knock of 277 off just 141 balls with the help of 25 fours and 15 sixes, took Tamil Nadu to 506 at the end of 50 overs. They became the first team to score 500+ runs in a 50-over match. Not to forget, Sai Sudharsan’s 102-ball 154, which set the platform as well.
Narayan Jagadeesan taking giant strides
The opening partnership between Narayan Jagadeesan and Sai Sudharsan stood 416 runs tall. It is the highest first wicket partnership in List A cricket history. Jagadeesan’s 277 is also the highest individual score in List A cricket, previously held by Alistair Brown (268) for Surrey against Glamorgan.
Not only that, the right-handed batter also surpassed the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Prithvi Shaw, and Devdutt Padikkal for the most centuries in a single season of Vijay Hazare Trophy. He is currently the leading run scorer of the tournament and taken the world by storm.

No doubt Jagadeesan is in the form of his life and the timing couldn’t have been much better. He was released by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the mini-auction for the 2023 season. Given the form he has been showing, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that he might cause a bidding war amongst IPL franchises on December 23.
