Mohammed Shami won’t be playing in IPL 2024
A couple of days ago, it was announced that Mohammed Shami won’t be playing in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) due to surgery. Shami plays for the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL and played an instrumental role in their success in 2022.
Shami last featured in a competitive match in the World Cup final between India and Australia where the latter emerged as the champions. When he will make a return to cricket is uncertain.
After the World Cup, the 33-year-old missed the full-fledged tour of South Africa, and then the T20Is against Afghanistan. He is now missing the ongoing five-match home Test series against England as well. India, however, have taken an unassailable 3-1 lead.
After the IPL, the 2024 T20 World Cup will commence but whether Shami will recover completely by then is uncertain.
