Naveen-ul-Haq joined the Sharjah Warriors in the first ever International League T20 and was their joint highest wicket-taker, with 11 wickets. He was expected to return to the side for the 2nd ILT20, but it looks like he has been rejected to play for Sharjah Warriors.
SW had sent Neveen the retention notice that informed him that he was going to play for the franchise in the upcoming ILT20. The tournament was set to start on 19th January, but the pacer refused to sign the notice. The franchise then turned to the ILT20 to step in and they attempted mediation between the two parties, but it failed.
Then the organizers turned towards their disciplinary committee, which included ILT20 chief executive David White, head of security and anti-corruption Col Azam, and Zayed Abbas, member of the Emirates Cricket Board. The franchise and the player were given time to present their points, and at the end it was decided that Naveen would be banned from the competition for 20 months.
We do not take pride in making this announcement but all parties are expected to comply with their contractual commitments and recognize that non-compliance can cause damage to the other party. Unfortunately, Naveen-ul-Haq failed to honour his contractual obligations with the Sharjah Warriors and as such the league had no option but to impose this 20-month ban on him.ILT20 in a statement regarding Naveen-ul-Haq
