So many things happened during the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), but one incident will be remembered for a long time- an ugly fight involving Virat Kohli, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Gautam Gambhir. The fight initially started between Kohli and Naveen during the match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

It took an ugly turn after the match between Kohli and Gambhir and continued on social media. During RCB’s match against Mumbai Indians (MI), Naveen posted the now-famous “Sweet mango’s” Instagram Story and fans started thinking that he was taking a dig at Kohli while watching his team lose the match.

Since that incident, the Afghan pacer has been consistently slammed by the Indian fans. But finally, Kohli and Naveen shook hands, hugged each other, and put an end to the fight during India’s match against Afghanistan in the 2023 ODI World Cup. And after intense trolling, Naveen became a favorite among the Kohli fans. Ahead of the auction for the 2024 IPL, the Afghan youngster revealed that the “Sweet mango’s” story had nothing to do with Kohli.

I had told Dhaval bhai (LSG team logistics) that I wanted to eat mangoes. And he got mangoes that night itself. When we went to Goa, he brought mangoes. So I was sitting in front of the screen and eating mangoes.
Naveen told LSG.

He added:

There was no picture or anything (of Kohli), it was a Mumbai Indians player on the screen. So I wrote 'sweet mangos' and everyone took it differently. So even if I didn't say anything, I just left it. I thought it was mango season, so people's shops would do well.

Imam-ul-Haq makes an interesting revelation about the Virat Kohli Naveen-ul-Haq saga

During an interaction with Honest Hour Podcast, Pakistani batter Imam-ul-Haq revealed that his teammate Agha Salman texted Virat Kohli on Instagram, asking him to calm down after the fight with Naveen-ul-Haq. Imam also revealed that Kohli and Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan are good friends.

The Pakistani opener said that Shadab had told Kohli about Agha’s message and Kohli answered that he’d return the favor by making it viral. And about the bond between Kohli and Shadab, Imam said, that as Kohli is from Delhi and a Punjabi, he is a funny person and speaks in Punjabi and as India and Pakistan have played a lot of cricket in the last two years, the duo share a good bond between them.
