“I want them to show me when I compete,” Neeraj Chopra gives brilliant reply when asked about not being shown on TV during 2023 Cricket World Cup final
Neeraj Chopra also admitted that despite bowling well, he enjoys "bhatta" bowling more.

On 19th November, 2023 Indians all around the country gathered in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to watch the 2023 ODI World Cup final between India and Australia. Many celebrities and politicians were in attendance, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Although they were displayed on the coverage, Olympic Gold medal winner Neeraj Chopra was not.
While attending the RCB Innovations Lab’s Leader’s meet, he spoke about his absence on the TV. He said he wanted to be shown when he’s competing and not when he’s attending a match. He added that when he participates in the Diamond League, it isn’t covered properly in India.

Chopra further added that he enjoyed the experience of the finals, but would have enjoyed more if India won. He further added that he never wanted the camera to pan at him, and that didn’t even cross his head. Chopra recently finished 2nd in the Diamond League in the discipline of Javelin Throw.

In the same event, Neeraj Chopra engaged in a rapid-fire questionnaire. He was asked about his thoughts of Bangalore, and recounted the time he trained in the city several years ago, calling it good. When asked what he would do if not an athlete, he admitted that he enjoyed photography. He added that his idol was Czech athlete Jan Zelenzy, who has the world-record for the longest throw in his discipline. His favorite movie was Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, as it was based on an athlete.
When asked if he enjoyed playing cricket, he said enjoyed batting and bowling, but excelled at “bhatta” (chucking) bowling. He further added that out of all Indian players, he found Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli the most stylish players.
