Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad took an indirect dig at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) after the latter decided to schedule an exclusive reserve day for India and Pakistan in the Super Four stage. The match is originally slated to take place on Sunday (September 10) at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. If rain interrupts the match, then it will continue the next day, on Monday (September 11).
Cricket’s two arch-rivals India and Pakistan faced each other for the first time this year on Saturday (September 2) at the Pallekele Cricket Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka. But because Sri Lanka is witnessing its seasonal rainfall, it interrupted the high-octane clash.
During India’s innings, rain stopped the game two times. Rohit Sharma and Company scored 266 runs but they did not get the chance to bowl. The match ended without any result with both the teams sharing a point each.
Heavy rainfall is again predicted in Colombo during the India-Pakistan match. ACC took a step to ensure that the match could end with a result by announcing a reserve day only for India’s match against Pakistan. ACC decided this after a discussion with all the Asian board members. But Venkatesh Prasad deemed this “unreasonable” and boldly asked them the reason behind agreeing to ACC’s demand.
He wrote on X (formerly Twitter) this: “What was the pressure to agree to this unreasonable demand?“.
