The high-octane India versus Pakistan clash is underway at the jam-packed Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday (October 14). The host team bundled its arch-rivals for just 191 runs within 43 overs. During Pakistan’s innings, multiple mistakes from the on-field umpire angered the fans and they took to X to express their frustration.
The first call from the umpire that went against India led to backlash because his decision saved Pakistan skipper Babar Azam. During the 25th over, Kuldeep Yadav‘s delivery hit on the pads of Babar leading to a huge appeal from India. But the umpire did not raise his finger and India captain Rohit Sharma went upstairs for the third umpire’s decision.
The ball pitched on the line and would have hit the leg stump. But as it was given an umpire’s call, Babar got a lifeline and completed his half-century. Babar, however, couldn’t score further runs as Mohammed Siraj bowled him out. He departed after a 58-ball 50 runs.
Then in the 33rd over, Kuldeep’s length ball hit the pads of Saud Shakeel but the umpire turned down the appeal. And though keeper KL Rahul was unsure, Rohit decided to take the DRS. The Ball Tracking showed three reds and the on-field umpire had to reverse his decision.
In the 43rd over, the umpire again gave a wrong decision when Ravindra Jadeja’s delivery led to a loud LBW appeal. Rohit again went for the DRS and the on-field umpire reversed his decision.
