Ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup, the captains of the 10 teams participating in the tournament attended the Captain’s Day on October 4. The captains of the teams were quizzed by the journalists about various topics. However, among several viral clips of the event, one picture event made fans laugh. The picture was of South Africa captain Temba Bavuma.
Bavuma was spotted sleeping during the event and the pictures did not take much time to go viral on the internet. However, the Proteas captain defended himself on X, saying that he did not fall asleep and it was the camera angle that made him look as if he was sleeping.
He replied to a post of England’s Barmy Army saying: “I blame the camera angle, I wasn’t sleeping.”

South Africa will start their 2023 ODI World Cup campaign on October 7 against Sri Lanka at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. They will play against all the nine teams in the group stage with their last match scheduled on November 10 against Afghanistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In the 2019 ODI World Cup, the Proteas could win just three out of nine matches and ended up in the seventh position on the points table. World Cup starts on October 5 between last edition’s finalists England and New Zealand in Ahmedabad.
