Jonny Bairstow getting stumped by Alex Carey while the England wicketkeeper was wandering about in his crease has not sit well with the hosts. From the players to the media and even the UK Prime Minister has criticized the Aussies for not maintaining the ‘spirit of the game’. Meanwhile, the Kangaroos pay zero heeds to all these allegations and stay firm in their stance.

The back-and-forth banter between English and Aussie fans has taken social media by storm. While England fans are busy blaming Pat Cummins and Co., the Australians are simply digging out old videos of England and its players where they did not maintain the ‘spirit of the game’.

While earlier, a few clips of Brendon McCullum running out batters were shared online, a new clip of Jonny Bairstow pulling off a similar dismissal in County Cricket has gone viral. Netizens are thrashing England and Bairstow left, right, and center for behaving like a bunch of hypocrites.

Australia batter Travis Head has also made a startling claim about Jonny Bairstow. Head has claimed that the England wicketkeeper was looking to pull off a similar dismissal in the first Ashes Test against him and when Alex Carey stumped Bairstow, he (Head) was reminding the Englishman about his strong remarks.

“Jonny Bairstow was stumped,” Head said on LiSTNR’s Willow Talk podcast. “And I sort of reminded Jonny last week I walked out of my crease at the end of an over. I quickly whipped my bat back and questioned Jonny on whether he would take the stumps and he said, ‘Bloody oath I would’, and ran off.”

Notably, Bairstow was also seen trying to run out Marnus Labuschagne on Day 3 of the Lord’s Test.
