The ODI World Cup watchers were expecting Pakistan‘s total dominance over the Netherlands on Friday (October 6) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. However, to their surprise, Pakistan struggled a lot before posting a decent total of 268 in 49 overs. Dutch all-rounder Bas de Leede picked up four wickets in his spell.

After winning the toss, the Netherlands opted to field first. Pakistan struggled to get off to a flying start due to Fakhar Zaman’s dismissal from Logan van Beek’s delivery. The next batter, Babar Azam, was expected to display his stroke plays but unfortunately, all he could score were a mere five runs after playing 18 balls.

After Imam-Ul-Haq’s departure, Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel shouldered the responsibility to keep the scoreboard running without losing their wickets for a long time. Both of them scored 68 runs respectively.

After Shakeel’s dismissal, Rizwan lost his wicket to Bas de Leede on the third ball of the 32nd over. On the last ball of that over, de Leede sent Iftikhar Ahmed to the dugout.

But following the three wickets in quick succession, Mohammad Nawaz and Shadab Khan steadied the ship for a while. Nawaz scored 39 off 43 balls, while Shadab added 32 off 34 runs. After their dismissal, Pakistan soon lost the left wickets for 286 runs in 49 overs.
