India A and Pakistan A are currently locking horns in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup final on Sunday (July 23) at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Pakistan A’s Tayyab Tahir slammed a brilliant century to power his team to a strong 352/8 in their allotted 50 overs.

India A skipper Yash Dhull won the toss and decided to bowl first. Pakistan A openers Saim Ayub (59 off 51) and Sahibzada Farhan (65 off 62) stitched a strong 121-run stand between them before Manav Suthar was able to get the breakthrough by dismissing Ayub. After Dhull ran Farhan out in the 22nd over, India A all-rounder Riyan Parag sent two batters into packing in the 28th over to bring India A back to the game. He dismissed Omair Yousuf (35 off 35) and Qasim Akram for a golden duck off two back-to-back deliveries.

However, India A felt the relief only for a short time, for Tahir was unshakable. He shouldered the responsibility to take his team to a commendable total by bringing his century off 66th delivery.

But before Tahir could do more damage, Rajvardhan Hangargekar compensated for his earlier no-ball to dismiss Tahir in the 45th over, but it was too late. Hargargekar delivered a length ball and Tahir smashed it straight but ended up playing a lofty shot only to hand Abhishek Sharma his catch. Tahir smacked 12 boundaries and four maximums at a strike rate of 152.11 to score 108 runs off 71 balls.

Pakistan A batters dominated throughout their innings except for that time when Riyan Parag dismissed two batters. They posted 352/8 in their 50 overs and it will interesting to see if India A chase down this huge target to win the tournament.
