On 24th October, South Africa won their 4th match in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup. They beat Bangladesh by 149 runs in the Wankhede Stadium thanks to some explosive batting by the Proteas. With this victory, South Africa are now 2nd place with a Net Run Rate of 2.370.
South Africa chose to bat at the Wankhede Stadium, a venue where batters have enjoyed for ages. Despite losing Reeza Hendricks and Rassie Van der Dussen in the powerplay, Quinton de Kock and captain Aiden Markram batted in a positive way. Quinton de Kock scored a massive 174 while Markram scored 60. Heinrich Klassen continued his terrific form by scoring 90 off 49, while David Miller also scored 34 in 15. Thanks to these batting contributions, South Africa posted a score of 382.
Bangladesh had trouble in the powerplay, losing 3 wickets for 35 runs. Marco Jansen had picked up 2 wickets in his 3rd over and was on a hat-trick. Mahmudullah scored a well made century, but his knock couldn’t lead Bangladesh to a victory. They were bowled out for 233 runs, losing by 149 runs.

Indian fans on X have expressed their fear of the Proteas, with the team dominating yet another game. Many praised them for their positive approach while batting and how dominant they have been. Meanwhile some fans are excited for the clash between India and South Africa.
