On the night of 12th november, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the lineup for “A Musical Odyssey,” a pre match show for the fixture between India and Pakistan. Regarded as one of the biggest fixtures in the world, the BCCI has decided to keep this ceremony for the match between India and Pakistan, but did not host an opening ceremony. 

The confirmed performers so far are Arijit Singh, Shankar Mahadevan and Sukhwinder Singh. Along with them, singers Shreya Ghoshal and Neha Kakkar will perform. There are also rumors of a 10 minute  show which will happen after the first innings.

The event will start at 12:30 in the Narendra Modi Stadium, just 90 minutes before the start of the match and an hour before the toss. India have never lost to Pakistan in the ODI World Cup, beating them 7 times so far. Both teams have not lost a match so far, with India beating Australia and Afghanistan and Pakistan beating Netherlands and Sri Lanka

Fans slam BCCI for Pre-match ceremony announcement 

On X, the BCCI had posted separate tweets to announce Arijit Singh, Shankar Mahadevan and Sukhwinder Singh. Under each of those posts, fans were slamming the BCCI for hosting this ceremony.

Many fans called the entire ceremony a cash grab and unnecessary. They were shocked how the tournament did not have an opening ceremony, but a regular group stage match between India and Pakistan was getting a pre-match show and an innings break show.

India and Pakistan have played each other twice so far, with both matches in the 2023 Asia Cup. The first match was called off due to rain, while the second match was won by India. They had beaten Pakistan by a record breaking 228 runs. The two nations have played each other 7 times so far in the ODI World Cup, with India winning all of them. Pakistan will aim to win their first ODI World Cup match against India on 14th, while India will fight to continue their unbeaten run.
