Australia’s star all-rounder Cameron Green was sold to Mumbai Indians for a whopping Rs 17.50 crore at the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction on Friday. He became the second-most expensive player in the history of the IPL auction.
He entered the auction for a base price of INR 2 crore. Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore first entered the bidding battle and quickly pushed the price past Rs. 7 crore in a blink of an eye. The Delhi Capitals entered the war, and the sum moved past Rs. 10 crores. But MI kept in the race and upstaged DC to secure Green for a staggering amount of INR 17.50 crore.
Mumbai released their long-time all-rounder Kieron Pollard. They want Green to fill his spot and strengthen the all-rounder department.
Green debuted for Australia in April 2022 in T20Is. At a strike rate of 173.75, he has two half-century knocks. With the ball, he scalped five wickets in seven matches at an economy of 8.90.
