“Downfall of MI”- Netizens react with memes as CSK register comfortable victory over nemesis MI
The most notable thing about this match was that for the first time since 2010, CSK were able to beat MI in Chennai.
CSK vs MI
It was a cakewalk for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to register a comfortable victory over arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) on Saturday (May 6) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Yellow Jersey, without breaking a sweat, chased down a small total of 140 with 14 balls remaining.
As always, CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway gave a powerful start to the innings, stitching 46 run-stand between them before Piyush Chawla was able to give the first breakthrough by dismissing the former in the fifth over. The Proteas and Ajinkya Rahane batted for a while but Chawla struck again to send Rahane into packing a couple of overs later.
Though CSK lost their third wicket in the 13th over when Impact Player Ambati Rayudu got dismissed for 12 off 11, they were not feeling any pressure due to the small target. In the 17th over, Conway fell for lbw off Akash Madhwal’s delivery but it was too late.
Shivam Dube completed the left job with his unbeaten 26 off 18 to take CSK past the target in 17.4 overs. Due to the small target, the Chennai fans once again couldn’t watch their Thala MS Dhoni bat. Nevertheless, they will be happy as CSK won the match by six wickets. The most notable thing about this match was that for the first time since 2010, CSK were able to beat MI in Chennai.
