West Indies and horrible cricket on display have become synonymous. The team that used to dominate world cricket for fun is now struggling to even qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup and the Men in Maroon have only themselves to blame. After failing to directly qualify for the quadrennial event, West Indies have let themselves down in the ODI World Cup Qualifiers as well.
The two-time champions suffered a defeat against Zimbabwe a couple of days ago and now West Indies lost to the Netherlands in their fourth and last game of the first round to further dent their qualification chances. Although the two-time champions have qualified for the second round, Super Six stage, this defeat has pushed West Indies into a muddle.
While the Shai Hope-led team failed to chase against Zimbabwe, Windies almost failed to defend a mammoth 374 runs against the Netherlands. Although the game went to a super over, the Netherlands were too good for the Windies. The Dutch ended up winning the game by 22 runs.

Talking about the game, despite scoring a massive 374/6, West Indies almost gifted the game to the Netherlands. Although the Windies bowlers tried to stop the Dutch, Teja Nidamanuru and captain Scott Edwards, as well as the top-order batters, proved unstoppable. Then, in the Super Over, Logan van Beek wreaked havoc on Jason Holder, aggregating 30 runs from six balls. The Shai Hope-led team was then bowled out 22 short of the target.
