The cricket lovers of both countries were eagerly waiting to watch the high-voltage India-Pakistan match in the 2023 Asia Cup. But unfortunately, the match was not at all high-voltage. India dominated right from the beginning while Pakistan looked clueless. Babar Azam and Co. fell to India by a huge 228 runs on Monday (September 11) at the R. Premadasa Stadium, in Colombo Sri Lanka. And the heroes of the match were Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Kuldeep Yadav.

India, with masterclasses from Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, posted a huge 356/2 in 50 overs after choosing to bat first. The match, originally scheduled on Sunday, continued on Monday due to reserve day. India did not lose a single wicket as Kohli and Rahul continued to make a mockery of the Pakistani bowlers on Monday.

The target was huge, and the watchers of the game might have thought that Pakistan would lose the match but they might have not foreseen that Kuldeep Yadav’s fifer would help India skittle out Babar Azam and Company for just 128 runs in 32 overs.

No Pakistani batter could reach even 30 runs. Opener Fakhar Azam top-scored for Pakistan with 27 runs from 50 balls. Kuldeep, in his eight overs, gave away 25 runs and bagged the wickets of Fakhar Zaman, Salman Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, and Faheem Ashraf.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave a perfect start to India’s innings as they stitched 121 runs between them. Rohit scored 56 off 49, while Gill added 58 from 52 balls. After their dismissals, Pakistan desperately tried to break Kohli and Rahul’s partnership but in vain.

Kohli slammed his 77th international century, while Rahul hammered his first ton since making a comeback to cricket after an injury layoff. Kohli top scored for India with his 122* off 94 balls, while Rahul added 111* off 106 balls.
