Team India

Who would have thought that India could bowl out South Africa for just 87 runs on June 17, at the Saurashtra Cricket Association in Rajkot. Well, they did it, all because of Avesh Khan bowled so brilliantly. Avesh is a newcomer in international cricket and in the first series that he played, showed all a glimpse of what he could do in future.

With the half-century knock from Dinesh Karthik (55 runs off 27 balls) and a 46 off 31 balls from Hardik Pandya, India moved up to 169/6 when their top batsmen staggered. The target seemed an easier one considering their successful chase of plus-200 score in the first T20I. But Harshal Patel first gave a breakthrough by dismissing Quinton de Kock in the fifth over with a run-out, while the other batsman and skipper Temba Bavuma got retired out. Dwaine Pretorius couldn’t open his account after playing six balls and walked back with a duck when Avesh Khan dismissed him.

Only Rassie van der Dussen scored the most for the team, with his 20 off 20 balls before Avesh Khan grabbed his wicket as well. Avesh Khan brilliantly bowled a length ball around off and made van der Dussen get a bit across to hit it aerially which made the ball fly towards the deep mid-wicket where Ruturaj Gaikwad comfortably caught it. Other batsmen’s score read 8, 9, 12, 0, 1, 4, and 4 respectively.

Avesh Khan picked four wickets and conceded 18 runs at an economy of 4.50. Yuzvendra Chahal scalped two wickets while Harshal Patel land Axar Patel bagged one wicket each. South Africa got bowled out in just 16.5 overs, and India won the match by a massive 82 runs (also South Africa’s lowest total in T20Is) .This helped India level up the five-match T20I with 2-2.
