Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pulled off an absolute heist against defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) on Sunday, courtesy Rinku Singh. The left-handed batter hit five consecutive sixes off the last five balls to seal a three-wicket win for the Knight Riders. Singh remained unbeaten on 48 which he scored off just 21 balls.
With Singh finishing in style, KKR captain Nitish Rana could not control his emotions and was seen running with all his might towards Rinku. Rana aggressively hugged his teammate and looked emotional as well. The two players then also got candid in a video shared by the franchise on its social media handles.
In the video, Rana can be seen talking about Rinku’s majestic innings and also revealed a secret. The KKR captain said that the bat used by Rinku to smoke those five consecutive sixes was actually his. Rana then also gifted the bat to Rinku saying it belongs to the latter now.
“This was my match bat, I had played two matches with it. I played the entire Syed Mushtaq Ali with this as well. I changed my bat today as Rinku wanted to play with it. I did not want to give it to him but he brought it from inside. I knew that he would choose this bat because its pickup is quite good and this is also pretty much light in terms of my weight. And now this belongs to him,” Nitish Rana was heard narrating the anecdote in a video shared by the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise.

Rinku does the unimaginable
Coming to the innings played by Rinku Singh, it was undoubtedly one of the best innings in the Indian Premier League. The Aligarh-born cricketer was hailed by almost everyone including the KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan. The Bollywood superstar lauded the batter by sharing a morphed picture of Singh.
Meanwhile, Rinku revealed that he got a call from Shah Rukh Khan. “Yes, we talked over a video call. He was congratulating me for my innings. I could not say much as he is such a superstar. I was feeling a bit shy,” Rinku told India Today.
Notably, on the back of Rinku’s heroics and blistering knocks from Venkatesh Iyer (83 off 40) and Nitish Rana (45 off 29), KKR registered their second win of the season. The two-time champions will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their next game.
