Not just form and fitness, BCCI seeks good off-field behavior from players before selecting for national team
The report further claimed that one of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise owners reported to BCCI about their player’s poor conduct off the field and the board officials have seriously considered these complaints.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced India’s squads for the West Indies tour. While the board announced a 16-member squad for the two-match Test series, a 17-member squad was selected for the ODI series. After the announcement, fans criticized BCCI for ignoring youngsters like Sarfaraz Khan and Abhimanyu Easwaran.
Later, a report revealed that Sarfaraz Khan was ignored due to his poor conduct off the field. Now, another report has almost echoed these claims. A Cricbuzz report has claimed that the BCCI Selection Committee has started considering players’ conduct off the field as well while selecting them for the national teams.
The report has claimed that along with form, performance, and fitness, the Indian selectors have now started taking cognizance of off-field matters such as code of conduct breaches.
Four players reported to BCCI by franchise owners
The report further claimed that one of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise owners reported to BCCI about their player’s poor conduct off the field and the board officials have seriously considered these complaints. The owner of one of the North franchises complained to BCCI about a couple of players’ breaking the IPL player code.
“When I became aware of the situation, I was deeply upset and immediately reported the matter to the BCCI. The Integrity Officer also took the breach very seriously and fulfilled his obligations,” the owner of the team was quoted saying by Cricbuzz.
The report then revealed that the players who have been reported to BCCI are either a part of the current Indian T20 setup or are in contention for selections. Now, it is worth noting that Sarfaraz Khan is neither a part of the current Indian T20I team nor he is in contention. The Mumbai batter is asking to get selected for the Test team.
